About our test

First, we used our exclusive showcase page/site technology to design online marketing pages that were attractive to visitors and search engines.  Then we built an engine that would accurately track total page views, banner click-throughs, and text/non-banner graphic hyperlink click-throughs.  Finally, we submitted our showcase pages to the top search engines and began tracking the results.

The Results

Our results indicate that based upon the total number of banner impressions recorded (131,929) during the 6-month test period, 16.33% (21,544) of our targeted visitors (in this case for contact lens information) chose to click on the text link while only 1.98% (2,612) chose to click on a banner.

 

Visitors chose the showcase page text link over 87% more often than the banner link!  In our opinion, the number one reason visitors chose not to use the banner link is from past bad experiences with banner ads.  “Bad experiences” typically include multiple “pop up” window traps, inability to go back to the page they were previously on, and simply “getting lost”, thus producing . “banner jaded” and/or “banner blind” Web surfers.
